The flexural limb deformities are defined as the restriction of a joint in the flexion position or the inability to extend it. Equine flexural deformities are classified as congenital or acquired after birth. In many cases, the only abnormal finding is a reduction of the movement of the affected joint. Palpation of the involved tendons combined with radiographic evaluation is important in confirming a diagnosis. The affected horses may be submitted to clinical or surgical therapies, or to a combination of both, according to the clinical examination and ancillary methods results. The best response to a treatment is observed when an early diagnosis is made. Prognosis varies according to the deformity degree, time of development and therapy used.
